Old Crow Medicine Show

When: Fri., Aug. 16, 8 p.m. 2013

Rock me, Mama, like a wagon wheel. Rock me, Mama, anyway you feel...” Yeah, “Wagon Wheel” is a terrific song - like, really terrific - but the Old Crow Medicine Show catalog is a deep dive into the wellspring of Appalachian ecstasy. Following years of busking, the band got a chance to head toward Nashville and start out on a promising career. Dig “Take ‘Em Away” for a simple nod to the jailhouse muse and the chain-gang gloom. 2012’s Carry Me Back builds on the strings-heavy Americana vibe the band perfected back in the day. It’s been a steady arc of addition and creation since the beginning. “We all feel that our task is reassembly and reanimation, not duplication—to breathe life into this again, to make the ghosts walk around a little faster and larger,” frontman Ketch Secor says.
