When: Fri., June 3 2016

Directed by Orson Welles, this 1952 classic has been digitally restored and is being presented at the Cinematheque. Shot in fragments over the course of four years, Othello features ever-changing actors and locations, Orson Welles’ baroque and a visually incredible rendition of Shakespeare’s classic. Winning the Palme d’Or at Cannes, Welles crafted one of the best Shakespeare movies ever made while simultaneously playing the duped Moor whose suspicion of his wife’s transgression leads to tragedy. It screens at 9:25 tonight and at 6:45 tomorrow night at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. Tickets are $9. (Immerman)
