Seasonal Special Happenings

Out of This World

When: Tue., July 14 2015

On July 14, the NASA space probe New Horizons will complete a nearly decade-long journey to the dwarf planet Pluto. As a result, we should soon learn all about its terrain and atmosphere (or lack thereof). The New Horizons team is fostering Twitter engagement by advertising the hashtag #PlutoFlyby as a way for the public to participate in the conversation. Sponsored by CWRU’s Institute for the Science of Origins, locals Amanda Yoho and Matthew Francis will host a local tweet up so that Clevelanders can socialize and participate in this historic space mission. The event takes place from 8 to 10 tonight at the Euclid Tavern (expect to hear NASA confirmation of the closest approach happening at 9:02 p.m.). Admission is free. (Niesel)
