Parkway Drive/The Word Alive/Wage War

When: Wed., June 21, 7:30 p.m. 2017

Tonight’s Parkway Drive concert represents the second date of a seven-shows-in-seven-days tour by the Australian metalcore band. Since forming in 2003 in Bryon Bay, New South Wales, Australia, Parkway Drive has released five studio albums, with their latest, Ire, coming out in 2015 (a deluxe version came out in 2016). The album opens with “Destroyer”; its soft intro climaxes into the chant “destroy” as the guitars get louder while drums vibrate into an almost heartbeat-like rhythm. The build-up leads to singer Winston McCall screaming “destroyer." The band brings an intensity to its live show as the gigs revolve around heavy guitar riffs, breakdowns and parched vocals.
