Party at Star Pop

When: Sat., Aug. 11 2012

Troy Schwartz started collecting toys when he was 10 years old. In the process, the fourth-generation enthusiast also developed a love of all things vintage. While in college, Schwartz bought and sold vintage clothing and toys online; but he missed the connection with real people. So eventually he set up shop in the Waterloo Art’s District, and Star Pop Vintage + Modern was born. The store features something for nearly everyone: clothing, toys, music, and nostalgia. “I feel like I’m doing a good job when the parents bring the kids in, but the kids have to drag their parents back out,” explains Schwartz. As the store enters its fourth year, Schwartz credits strong community ties and low prices as keys to his success. Tonight, he celebrates with a party complete with cake, arts, and crafts activities. Festivities start at 6 p.m. It’s free
