When: July 26-28, 8 p.m. 2012
Whether you’re talking about his size or his over the-top personality, comic Ralphie May is definitely too big to ignore — which coincidentally is the name of his 2011 Comedy Central special. May often riffs about politics, race, and his family; lucky for him, his wife is also a comedian. “She doesn’t take offense to any jabs I make at her in my act,” he says. “For us, it’s all about the funny.” But while he’s not politically correct, at least May is honest. “I think people respect that. If you’re close-minded, you’re not the person for my show. If you don’t care for what I do, then don’t come.” As for the future, May says he’d like to go into politics. “There comes a point in stand-up comedy where you’ve said everything you’re going to say. I don’t want to stay on past that point. Besides, the government needs a shake-up.” Catch the next world leader tonight at 8; shows continue through Saturday at Hilarities 4th Street Theatre. Tickets are $20 to $30.
