Considered one of the greatest directors of all time, Japan's Akira Kurosawa adapts Shakespeare's King Lear in his 1985 film Ran. The movie centers on a Japanese warlord who gives his kingdom to his eldest son, provoking resentment from his other sons. Tonight at 8:35, the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque screens a new 4k print of the movie. It also screens again at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $10.
