Legion of Dreams should earn its guitar-teacher creator Rob Metz some more lesson money from aspiring shredders in the Akron area. Metz's execution of every flashy guitar trick in the shred-metal genre will drop the jaws of six-string geeks. His debut also includes something for non-guitar players; his impeccable technique creates memorable melodies over his band's metallic-boogie crunch. Songs like "Ride" and "Lost in the Machine" are well composed and rock like old-school videogame soundtracks, proving that while shred is cheesy, it doesn't have to be boring.
