Robbie Rivera/MAKJ

When: Fri., Jan. 25, 9 p.m. 2013

Before house music blew up into the mainstream, it was just a genre of music that most people would carelessly call “techno.” And before there were larger-than-life house producers like Avicii, Swedish House Mafia and David Guetta, you had producers like Robbie Rivera. A well-known name amongst his peers and EDM fans (the ones that were into EDM before 2010), Rivera has been producing House, Electro, Tribal, and Funk since 1996. His career boasts four studio albums, nineteen EPs, and nearly 100 singles. Rivera has also done well for his brand, having created his own label, Juicy Music, which has its own radio program, “The Juicy Show,” on XM. He also plays a well-renowned annual beach show, Juicy Beach, each year in South Beach during Miami’s Winter Music Conference. With all of the time and effort Rivera has put into the house scene, the popular DJs of today should be thanking him endlessly now that the genre is bigger than ever. (Sam Mendez)
