Robert J. Martin Jr. Memorial Race

When: Sun., July 14, 7:30 a.m. 2013

The Martin family discovered that their son, Ben, had autism at the age of 2. Ben needed 25 hours of therapy per week in hopes that he could one day be independent. However, health insurance companies would not cover this sort of treatment. Ben’s father, Robert, worked several jobs in order to pay the extensive bills but was tragically struck down by cancer in 2012. The family doesn’t want to see other couples go through the same hardships, which is why they’ve set up the Robert J. Martin Jr. Memorial Race to help the Midwest Council for Children With Disabilities. MCCD helps families like the Martins pay the bills that health insurance companies won’t. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association for $30. Read the family’s entire story in their own words at (William Hoffman)
