Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers released their self-titled debut album 30 years ago. Petty's new solo CD, Highway Companion, comes out today. The Rock Hall bridges those three decades with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers: 30 Years of Rock and Roll, a memorabilia- and artifact-filled exhibit featuring dozens of never-before-seen items. Highlights include the guitar Petty held on the cover of Damn the Torpedoes, the floral shirt he wore in the "Free Fallin'" video, and the script for the King of the Hill episode he voiced. Every part of Petty's career -- including the ragged early years and his supergroup the Traveling Wilburys -- is represented.
