Running Dog Labor Exchange (in the Locker Room)

When: Sun., Jan. 4, 9 p.m. 2015

Their tagline is: “Broadcasting sounds of punk without borders from Cleveland, Ohio,” and that’s a most enticing introduction to Running Dog Labor Exchange. The band’s 2014 album, Progress, filters social injustices through an energetic amalgam of 80s and 90s punk influences. There’s a lot to chew on here once the listener hits play. Early on, “March on the Progress” blends chugging verses with anthemic choruses and a really interesting bridge to produce a fiery headbanger of a tune. And a lot of the true songs on the album do all of the above very well. Interspersed among those songs are a number of brief narratives or spoken-word samples, each of which helps paint a picture of how we all get screwed over in this beautiful 21st century. (Sandy)
