Salt-n-Pepa at Wolstein Center

When: Fri., Feb. 4 2011

Hip-hop has long been the stuff of controversy between kids and parents — long enough, in fact, that children of the '90s now have kids of their own, and their favorite hip-hop groups are on reunion tours that were once reserved for crusty "classic rock" bands. But hip-hop is still cool, and Cheryl James, Sandy Denton, and Dee Dee Roper — the three ladies of Salt-n-Pepa — are anything but crusty. Breaking into the male-dominated hip-hop scene in the late '80s, Salt-n-Pepa are best remembered for a string of hits that included "Push It," "Shoop," and "Let's Talk About Sex." Their Legends of Hip-Hop Tour comes to the Wolstein Center tonight, where they'll share the stage with other blasts from the hip-hop past, including Whodini, Kurtis Blow, Rob Base, and Doug E. Fresh. The show starts at 8 p.m., and tickets range from $42.50 to $52.50. For more information, visit or call 216-687-9292. The Wolstein Ceter is at 2121 Euclid Ave. — Delaney
