Seven is Magic

When: Sat., Oct. 14 2017

A beloved member of the CIA family, Dan Tranberg passed away at the end of May. Tranberg lectured and taught painting as an adjunct faculty member at CIA for more than 15 years. One of the region's most respected art critics, Tranberg began writing for the Plain Dealer in 1991. His articles and essays were also published in Art in America and Bomb, as well as locally in the former Free Times. In total, he published more than 750 articles on art in local, national and international publications, and his personal artwork has been featured in more than 40 exhibitions. After hosting an auction of artwork by Tranberg's friends to fund a new memorial scholarship in his name at CIA, Bonfoey Gallery presents Seven is Magic, an exhibition of paintings from the artist's last two years, many of which were created in the hospital as he battled cancer. The exhibition opens with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight and remains on view through Nov. 18. Admission is free. (Usmani)
