When: Sat., June 16, 1 p.m. 2012
Four top percussionists from around the country will be beating a path to St. Edward High School today for a series of intimate drum clinics, a mini concert, and a meet & greet. It’s all part of Shedfest 2012: a free, informal afternoon of drum education and musical motivation. Performers include Rich Redmond (Jason Aldean, Jewel), Tracy Broussard (Blake Shelton), Brett Baker (Jay-Z), and Steve Bowman (Counting Crows). “All these guys are so stoked!” says Shedfest organizer Dominic Tancredi. “They’re giving up a summer Saturday when they could be home with their families to come here. But they do it because they love to teach, they love to share their stories with fellow drummers, and they really like the intimacy.” Tancredi — himself a drummer, artist, and owner of Cleveland’s Woodshed Percussion, which creates customized stage-branding products for bands and DJs — recruited the pros by way of his own personal relationships. “They are all my clients, and most of them have become good friends too. Shedfest is a way to bring them to town for a free event that not only promotes the music, but gets them up close and personal with fellow musicians.” Shedfest begins promptly at 1 p.m. Advance registration is requested via the website, where more details await. Walk-ins will also be accepted. Questions? Contact Tancredi at the number below. It’s free.
