Shot in Secret

Since the Iranian government banned him from making films in his native country, director Jafar Panahi has had to film in secret. In Closed Curtain, a film he directed with the help of Kambuzia Partovi, a paranoid screenwriter (Partovi) holes up in his Caspian Sea villa with his dog and tries to live a solitary life, suggesting the film is an allegory about the creative spirit. The movie makes its Cleveland premiere tonight at 8:20 at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. It shows again at 8:35 tomorrow night. (Niesel)
