The McKinley Museum stays open for 100 consecutive hours.

The William McKinley Presidential Library and Museum celebrates its centennial by staying open for the 100 Hours Celebration! The bash started yesterday and runs through Sunday afternoon. “We’re each taking shifts,” says Christopher Kenney, the venue’s director of education. “But I think we’re going to be up longer than we think. There’s something [happening] every hour.”

The four-day extravaganza features everything from art and science demonstrations to a simulated crime lab. There’s also a wine-and-cheese party, free massages, balloon rides -- even an 18,000-piece jigsaw puzzle you can put together. “This has been a two-year project,” says Kenney. “You can learn a little bit about history, science, and art. There’s something for everyone.” Movie fans can check out classics beamed onto the museum’s outside walls, animal lovers can pet visitors from the Akron Zoo, and kids can take in a bubble show. Plus, visitors can explore every nook and cranny of our 25th president’s final resting place . . . and not get kicked out at the end of the day. “It’s a neat experience,” says Kenney. “The monument was a community endeavor. We really wanted to keep that aspect of the community alive.”
