Snail Mail/Lomelda

When: Mon., Jan. 22, 8:30 p.m. 2018

Singer-guitarist Lindsey Jordan formed the indie slowcore band Snail Mail when she was just 16. The group has slowly picked up steam. In the wake of the band’s last release, the Liz Phair-meets-the Breeders EP Habit, Jordan has inked a deal with Matador Records. She’s been hard at work on that album, which will come out later this year. “We’ve spent an insane amount of time working on it in the studio,” she says. “We had real resources to do this one. It’s a proper release, and the songs are more mature. They’re more guitar-oriented. I spent a lot of time listening to inspiring guitar-type records and that’s what I’ve been more into lately. There’s a lot of growth. It feels like I’m a completely different person. I’ve been writing during transitional times in my life because I just graduated and I’ve been doing all this music stuff. It was in such an abundance, there hasn’t been time to take a deep breath. Now, I’ve had completely different experiences so it’s like a different person wrote it.” At tonight’s show, you can expect to hear songs such as the droning “Thinning” and whatever new songs Jordan feels like playing.
