Family Guy Volume 8
(Twentieth Century Fox)
There are some hilarious lines in this three-DVD box, which includes 15 eps from the show's latest season. The greatest of them star Stewie (who dresses like a girl to snag a role in a play) and Brian (who runs over another dog while driving drunk). They even go on an excellent adventure together. Best of all, the bad words Fox made them cut are censor-free. It's so fucking funny.BOOK
The Art of the LP:
Classic Album Covers 1955-1995
When music fans bitch about the death of vinyl, this should be the real reason. More than 350 album covers are reprinted here, super-sized and in color. There are many classics (the Stones' Sticky Fingers, Nirvana's Nevermind), but the real fun is discovering old-school jazz and R&B covers that look cool enough to hang on your wall. Great background info too.
Death Race 2000 Special Edition
This brutal 1975 exploitation flick (part of Roger Corman's Cult Classics series) makes its Blu-ray debut, complete with tons of extras, including a look at the killer cars. To win the world's most popular race in the year 2000, contestants score points by running over other drivers, spectators, and anyone else who gets in the way. Lindsay Lohan would be awesome at this!
33 1/3: Highway to Hell
Back in Black is a better album, but Joe Bonomo's look at Bon Scott's last record with AC/DC makes a terrific addition to the music-snob-approved 33 1/3 series. Bonomo is a true fan, and he brings that wide-eyed love to his essay, which wraps rebellion, three-chord rock and roll, and the band's own demons into an out-of-control teenage wasteland. No stop signs, indeed. CD
Uffie: Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans
Like Ke$ha, Uffie is a potty-mouthed party girl with limited rhyme skills. But Uffie, an American living in Paris, got there first. There's nothing as great as "TiK ToK" on her debut album, but there's plenty of songs about sex, drugs, and doing really nasty things late at night. You might feel like you need a shower after the record is over, but you'll love every second of it.Send feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org.
