STOMP!

When: Fri., March 18 2011

We've seen them banging on trashcans and hubcaps for the past 20 years. Now the boys and girls of STOMP return to Cleveland, bringing their tuneful tools to the Palace Theatre for five weekend performances. Founded in 1991 in the U.K., the energetic percussive-theater troupe has made its way around the world many times over, tackling projects ranging from a collaboration with the Muppets to their own IMAX film. This weekend's shows will feature two new routines built around paint cans and giant tractor-tire inner tubes. "Every reworking has stayed true to the original premise of the show," says co-creator Steve McNicholas. "That is, to create rhythmic music with instantly recognizable objects and do it with an eccentric sense of character and humor." Tonight's performance is at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $10 to $55. Snap 'em up at 216-241-6000 or online at playhousesquare.org. The Palace Theatre is at 1615 Euclid Ave. in Playhouse Square. — Chrissy Niehaus
