In Fruits of the Poisonous Tree
, Daniel Belardinelli's paintings look like folk art as imagined by Atreyu. Primitive, almost skeletal figures with bulging eyes stare at each other, while printed dialogue hovers above them. In a typical piece, one character says to another, "You don't have any balls." But these biting works do.
