Grab some floaties and round up the kids: Summit County’s Munroe Falls Metro Park is kicking off summer with an evening of free swimming, along with a one-hour concert and cake and ice cream! The tunes come by way of the Metro Parks Ensemble, a volunteer group of about 25 musicians who play a blend of classical and popular music. “The actual performance is right next to the lake,” says Tim Hite, the park’s marketing specialist. “With the lake as a backdrop, it’s a very different type of venue.” There will also be a naturalist on hand with an educational display, if you’re into that kind of thing. If not, get your hands on the cake and ice cream instead, provided by Friends of Metro Parks. Free swimming starts at 5 p.m. and the concert begins at 6:30. Seating is limited, so grab a towel or some folding chairs. “It’s an opportunity for people who might not come out to the parks otherwise to enjoy a free, family-friendly event,” Hite says. In the event of rain, the concert will be postponed until next Tuesday. Get weather updates at the number below. The park is at 521 South River Rd. in Munroe Falls.
