Seasonal Special Happenings

The Boulder Brigade

When: Wed., March 26 2014

There’s a lot going on with the film festival this week, but it’s not just all at Tower City. MOCA is collaborating for the 16th year with CIFF and will Levitated Mass, a documentary exploring a public art project by artist Michael Heizer. This film documents the creation of a massive sculpture — a 340-ton chunk of granite to be exact — as it makes its way to its final destination over a period of 11 days to its final home at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The whole project took over 40 years in the making, and the documentary explores the logistics (including the removal of traffic signals and street lights just to allow for the rock’s passage) and the perseverance of everyone involved just to make this happen. The film shows at 4:30 p.m. and is $14. (Trenholme) [In addition to this screening, the film shows March 28th at 2:15 pm at Tower City Cinemas and at the Akron Art Museum on March 27th at 6 pm.]
