The Cigar Store Indians

With Crooked Mile. Thursday, December 19, at the Beachland Ballroom.

The dirty southern blues revivalists in the Cigar Store Indians are the hottest thing to roar across Georgia since Sherman lit up the joint. Clearly, a band is working a major groove when popular demand leads to a live album after only two releases -- which is exactly how CSI's latest, Guest List, was stomped into existence. After documenting a pair of rollicking shows, one at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta and another at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, producer Rodney Mills (Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special) gave it the once-over, and the Guest List was born.

The highlight of the album for fans who already have CSI's first two discs is the inclusion of a couple of live favorites never previously recorded in the band's 10-year history. The first is a CSI original and longtime concert staple, "Dirty Belly Button," while the second is the band's flawless stitching together of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" and the Ramones' "I Wanna Be Sedated." Needless to say, this CSI ain't about stiffs.
