The Cleveland National Air Show

When: Sept. 1-3 2012

You’ve probably been hearing the planes roaring over the city for most of the past week — a sure sign that the Cleveland National Air Show is near. The Navy's Blue Angels are just the best known of many pilots who perform stomach-wrenching loops and rolls in the air. For the aeronautically fascinated, there’s a lot to see on the ground too, with tours of military planes and other vehicles. Advance admission is $19 for adults, $12 for ages 6 to 11, or $30 for a box seat. Gates open at 9 a.m. today through Monday. Find details on the Cleveland Air Show website. If you’re not so into actual interactions with planes or military recruiters, you can watch the stunt pilots and parachutists from the deck of the nearby Steamship William G. Mather from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Bring your folding chairs, and buy food and drink onboard. Tickets for that option are $16 and should be reserved by phone.
