The Jellybricks/Travis Caudle/Chasing Moira/Saint Claire
When: Fri., May 17, 8:30 p.m. 2013
Happily putting both the “power” and the “pop” in power pop, The Jellybricks have cultivated an air of fun and rock ‘n’ roll throughout their catalog. Last year’s Suckers built on the mentality that the band has been steadily grooming for years. Check out “Their Own Way,” which boasts the earnest vocals and uber-catchy chord progressions nestled among the bread and butter of the band’s talents. Furthermore, enjoy the harmonic work in that song and elsewhere on the album. Clean production values, a shimmering attitude (with hints of melancholy and introspection here and there) and a knack for navigating the genre’s hallmark hooks are strewn throughout not only Suckers but the rest of their discography, as well. Their recent acoustic number “Who Is God” also showcases the band’s penchant for perhaps going down a quieter route onstage. Travis Caudle, Chasing Moira and Saint Claire will also hop on the main stage for tonight’s gig. (Eric Sandy)
