The Monkees

When: Sat., Nov. 17, 8 p.m. 2012

Created for a TV show of the same name, The Monkees didn’t seem to have much of a chance of lasting past the run of the sitcom, which aired for only three years. But thanks to the popularity of songs such as “I’m a Believer,” “Last Train to Clarksville,” “Pleasant Valley Sunday” and “Daydream Believer,” the band carried on well after the show was canceled. Despite the death of founding member Davy Jones earlier this year of a heart attack, singer-drummer Micky Dolenz, singer-bassist Peter Tork, and singer-guitarist Michael Nesmith are carrying on with the tour that was supposed to feature all four original members playing together for the first time since 1997. Now it’s just the threesome, but during the concert, the band plans to offer up a multimedia tribute to the late Jones. (Jeff Niesel)
