The Night of the Shooting Stars

When: Sat., Oct. 10 2015

Billed as Two Tavianis Times Three, this mini festival at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque showcases the films of brothers Paolo and Vittorio Taviani. Born in Tuscany, they've made movies since the '60s. The series starts tonight with The Night of the Shooting Stars, a lyrical film with a fairy tale quality. Set in the summer of 1944, the movie centers on a group of Italian villagers who leave their Fascist-controlled town with the hope that American soldiers will come and save them. It screens at 7 tonight and at 4 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $9. (Niesel)
