Music Around Town, Seasonal Special Happenings

The Temptations

When: Sun., July 21, 8 p.m. 2013

Once the finest male vocal R&B group of the ’60s, the Temptations are now relegated to rehashed releases of greatest hits albums. Nonetheless, these guys can sing and make a funky dance beat to back it. Veterans of the Detroit Motown scene, these guys changed music forever, ushering in a new wave of R&B singing and choreography. It’s almost impossible to not start snapping your fingers when that two-note bass-line comes in on “My Girl,” prompting sing-a-longs wherever it’s played. All of the iconic singles, from “Papa Was A Rolling Stone” to “The Way You Do The Things You Do” will, be on tonight’s set list. And with the intimate venue of the Kent Stage, there’s no better place to get up close and personal with the group. (William Hoffman)
