Third Fridays

When: Fri., June 16 2017

With the warm summer months upon us, there is certainly no shortage of weekend events. But even with plenty of competition, Third Fridays at 78th Street continue to be one of the busiest nights in the local art community. With so many galleries and artist studios opening their doors throughout the building's four floors and 170,000 square feet, June's Third Friday promises another perfect storm of collective efforts. Highlights include local photographer Christina Sadowski's latest exhibition at E11even2, which she co-owns with fellow local artists Rich Cihlar and Billy Nainiger. The Day Cleveland Stood as 1M showcases Sadowski's photographs of the Cavs' NBA Championship Parade. The photos don't include any images of Cavs players. Instead, Sadowski celebrates the community coming together to celebrate as one. Of course, there's plenty more to see throughout the building, including new work by David Masters and Liz Maugans at Hedge Gallery, Matthew Dibble's Puzzled Bipeds at Tregoning & Company and Word Up at PopEye Gallery, an all-female, text-based exhibition featuring work by Amber Esner, Erin Guido and Katy Kosman. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m., although individual gallery hours may vary slightly. At 9, head to the building's third flood for live music, courtesy of Survival Kit. As always, admission is free. (Usmani)
