Before the iPod and Xbox 360 made life bearable, Ohioans pretty much spent their time surviving. When they weren’t busy foraging for food and trying to keep warm, they were working. At the Massillon Museum’s Objects of Domesticity: 1800 to 1840 exhibit, you can get an idea of just how fuss-free people were back in the day. The sewing machines, kitchen gadgets, and pottery on display were functional items that got pioneers through long, cold winters. But they also reveal a craftsmanship you just don’t see anymore. Even everyday eating utensils and dinnerware are works of art.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sundays, 2-5 p.m. Starts: Dec. 20. Continues through Feb. 3
