To Have and Have Not

The late, great Howard Hawks directs To Have and Have Not, a 1944 film about a charter boat owner (Humphrey Bogart) who reluctantly offers to help transport French resistance fighters in the French colony of Martinique. The movie also focuses on the romance that develops between the boat owner and Marie "Slim" Browning (Lauren Bacall), a woman he meets at a hotel one night. A 35mm print of movie screens tonight at 7 and again on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Cleveland Museum of Art as part of the museum's Bogart & Bacall series. Tickets are $11, $8 for CMA members, seniors and students. (Niesel)
