twenty one pilots/Mutemath

When: Wed., June 8, 7 p.m. 2016

Straight out of Columbus, twenty one pilots have dominated the alternative music scene ever since the release of their 2013 album Vessel. With hits like “Car Radio,” “Ode to Sleep” and “House of Gold,” the band, which consists of vocalist Tyler Joseph and drummer Josh Dunn, further branded itself on tour with its unique performance style. Being a duo, the group has plenty of room on stage to play around and that’s exactly what it does. Dunn is known for taking his drum kit and playing it on top of the crowd while Joseph turns into an acrobat by scaffolding up whatever part of the stage he has access to. He then proceeds to sing down at the crowd while perched 20 or 30 feet above — a sight not to be missed, especially considering the difficulty of performing songs from the band’s latest album, Blurryface, a mix of rock and hip-hop.
