Two New Exhibits

When: Fri., June 17 2016

2731 Prospect begins its summer season with two new exhibitions, Michelle Murphy’s Shimmering Schemata and Perpetual Sunset, featuring new work by Brandon Juhasz, Aaron Koehn and Erik Parra. Photographer Michelle Murphy makes her return to Cleveland for her first exhibition since beginning her MFA studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Murphy’s photography explores issues of “female identity, beauty, consumerism and our collective relationship to the media.” Perpetual Sunset showcases three artists who share a common interest in the unexpected visual and psychological slippages found within surreal corporate branding, manufactured interior spaces and stock advertising imagery. Through painting and photography, these artists combine images which are appropriated, painted and/or printed into intriguing still life themes with complex, underlying meanings. 2731 Prospect hosts an opening reception for both exhibitions from 6 to 9 tonight. The shows remain on view through July. Free. (Usmani)
