Vagabond Opera

When: Tue., Jan. 29, 8:30 p.m. 2013

Based in Portland, Oregon, Vagabond Opera certainly delivers on its appropriate moniker. Two of the band’s four vocalists are classically trained opera singers and the mix includes cello, saxophone, clarinet, accordion, double bass and drums. The group plays what it calls “Bohemian gypsy cabaret.” While the music on its most recent album, 2011’s Sing For Your Lives, isn’t as manic as that of, say, Gogol Bordello, it still has made energy that should translate into a rousing live show. Just don’t expect to understand all the lyrics. Members sing in 14 different languages. (Jeff Niesel)
