“Dry before sweet, white before red,” advises Donniella Winchell, executive director of the Ohio Wine Producers Association. You can put that adage into practice today and tomorrow at the Vintage Ohio Wine Fest. A sampling of wines from across Ohio, the tasting draws newbies and connoisseurs alike. But with more than 20 wineries represented, moderation is key. “We advise people to shop a little, sip a little, enjoy some great food, and then sip a little again later,” explains Winchell. Among the non-alcoholic diversions: live music, an array of popular food trucks, stunning views of the bucolic Lake County landscape, and tonight’s special fireworks display. You’ll also find cooking demos, kids’ activities, and craft vendors. General adult admission is $25 in advance or $30 at the gate; cough up an extra $15 for special access to the Meet the Winemakers tent. Hours are 1 to 10 p.m. today and Saturday.
