Wake Up

Headlining set at the Cleveland 100 showcase, 10 p.m. Saturday, April 14. Peabody's, 2083 E. 21st St., 216-776-9999.

Wake Up is back and better than ever. Singer Jon Conley briefly broke up the trio, between moving to Seattle and realizing the Pacific Northwest sucks. He's since returned to Cleveland and is leading the reinvigorated group. They still have roots in roots rock, and they still can't break the blues -- but it doesn't stop them from playing hot-and-bothered party songs with hooks you only need to hear once to remember for weeks. They might break out the Wurlitzer slow-dance number "This Feeling," but it's barn-burning rockers like "Watch You Go" that'll have you in line, pestering them to finish their second album. (It's coming soon.)
