Readers sound off on Cropicana, and more

Another Take on Cropicana

This place is overpriced, and the food is absolutely underwhelming ["Beach Buns," June 22, 2011]. $9 for pulled pork, a bun, and cole slaw, really? Fish tacos are Van de Camp frozen fish with Velveeta; you call this reasonable? C'mon now! Get a clue, Trattner, and take off the rose-colored glasses.

Don't Get Lame With Dennis

Michael D. Roberts' article dismissing Dennis Kucinich as an anachronism spends a lot of ink talking about everything but Dennis' actual accomplishments as a seven-term congressman [Lake View, June 8].

Roberts cites the Muny Light story, but never tells the truth about how the effort has saved Clevelanders a fortune in utility bills over the years. Roberts' reference to Dennis' brother reflects a need to defame Dennis rather than deal with the truth about his work. The reference to a vanity campaign for president conveniently ignores what Dennis' campaign truly represented: He tried to awaken the country to the deadly deception that killed our soldiers.

This lame attack on Dennis is most shameful because Dennis Kucinich has performed untold and uncounted great services to Cleveland. If this represents the journalism we can expect from Scene ... then why bother printing?

In Praise of Square Records

I love this place [Biz Beat, June 22, 2011]! In addition to all the new music you could possibly want, they have the weirdest collection of used records ever. I've had countless WTF moments looking through their collection. It's definitely worth a trip to Akron.

New Depths in the Heights

In response to "Josh Cribbs Fights Cleveland Heights Parking Ticket," at the Scene & Heard blog: This is standard practice in Cleveland Heights. My wife got a ticket with time on the meter as well. Same BS response: Pay $50 in court costs to fight a $15 ticket. There should be a sign as you drive into town: "Welcome to Cleveland Heights. Please pull over and pay a fine."
