West Side Story: Film with Live Orchestra

West Side Story chronicles the battles between two brawling New York gangs. Directed by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins, the 1961 film won 10 Academy Awards. Tonight at 7 at Severance Hall, the Cleveland Orchestra plays Leonard Bernstein’s score live while the re-mastered film shows in hi-­def on the big screen with the original vocals and dialog. Guest speaker Bill Rudman, artistic director with the Musical Theater Project, gives the pre-concert talk beginning one hour before the concert. Performances repeat at 7 tomorrow and Saturday nights and at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets start at $49. (Niesel)
