The 82-year-old granddaddy of the outlaw country scene is still going strong and aiming high with a weekend set at Nelson Ledges. Old Crow Medicine Show will open Willie’s Friday night headlining set. On Saturday, Donna the Buffalo, the Tonk Brothers and Blue Moon Soup will perform. (No bands are scheduled for Sunday.) Willie’s most recent album of originals, last year’s Band of Brothers, is a rich collection of tunes dealing with the wide range of emotions that criss-cross throughout a very full lifetime. The title track, ensconced in hearty harmonica, drifts through Willie’s philosophy of individualism in a relaxed pace. And with his new Willie’s Stash series unfolding, it’s clear that the guitar great is taking some time to look back across his career and sift through the catalog for some gems. Nelson plays tonight, but it's a weekend-long fest at Nelson Ledges. Go to the website for more info. (Sandy)
