World Beat Party

When: Sun., Aug. 25, 11:59 a.m.-9 p.m. 2013

Given its broad mix of ethnicities, Cleveland tends to attract bands and musicians from all over the world. The inaugural One World Fest is an attempt to exploit that tendency. Put on by Ingenuity founder James Levin, the event takes place today from noon to 9 p.m. at Rockefeller Park. While there’s an emphasis on music (headliners Moises Borges Ensemble and Gilad Segev hail from Brazil and Israel, respectively, the festival will also feature a parade and performances from a variety of different acts. Cleveland Shakespeare Festival will put on a performance of Midsummer Night’s Dream and the Hawken School will present Antigone. The Murphy Irish Dancers, jazz singer Dr. E and the Lake Erie Native American Drum Ensemble are all slated to perform. The event is free. Find more info at clevelandoneworldfestival.com. (Niesel)
