The Doors Ray Manzarek produced the first four albums by the Los Angeles punk band X. But when he first saw the punk band play at the Whiskey a Go Go in Los Angeles, he didn’t even realize the group was covering a Doors’ song. His wife Dorothy had to tell him the band was playing ‘Soul Kitchen. Manzarek’s inspired X to revisit those first four albums on a 2014 tour. Now, the group, which features its original members, has embarked on a 40th anniversary tour. The band's punk , played each one over the course of a four-night stand. Its debut, Los Angeles, commences with the boisterous title track, a song that chronicles Cervenka’s initial experiences in the city and features Doe and Cervenka trading vocals as they scream, “She had to get out of Los Angeles.” It remains one of punk's seminal tunes, and the band still plays the song like it really means it. Expect to hear it alongside the band's other hits at tonight's show. (Niesel)
