6/7: Strung Out at the Agora

comment

Veteran punks Strung Out have recorded seven albums and toured the world more than a dozen times over the years. Stories of their drunken performances and run-ins with the police abound. Their basement punk blends with melodic metal and a dash of hardcore and traditional rock for a singular mix that tackles political and gritty emotional issues. Their recent B-sides collection, Prototypes and Painkillers, features 25 tracks from the past 15 years, including unreleased and out-of-print songs, alternate versions and covers. The album serves as a sort of appetizer for fans while Strung Out prep their follow-up to 2007’s Blackhawks Over Los Angeles for a fall release. Death By Stereo, This Is a Standoff and Heads Held High start things off 7:30 p.m. at the Agora Ballroom (5000 Euclid Ave., 216.881.6700). Tickets: $15. — Liss Vickery
