Like me, you may have never fulfilled your childhood dream of owning a horse. But from July 4-6 and July 8-12, you can spend a lot of time enjoying the animal’s beauty and grace at the annual Chagrin Valley Hunter Jumper Classic at the Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field (3841 Chagrin River Rd., Moreland Hills). Expert riders of all ages will be competing in a dizzying array of classes starting at 8 a.m. each day. But that’s not all. The event features everything from pony rides and crafts for kids to competitions for dogs and a sand volleyball tournament. Vendors will offer food, jewelry, clothing, antiques, crafts and animal-related supplies and gifts. It’s free through July 10, $3-$10 the final two days, when the championships are decided. Dog admission is always free; your cat told me he doesn’t want to go. — Anastasia Pantsios
