MTV Covers Mushroomhead Spat

The latest chapter in the on-again, off-again feud between Mushroomhead and Slipknot seems more than a little contrived, but it's sure fun. The two masked metal bands and their followers seemed to leave the hard feelings behind years ago, but Mushroomhead drummer-producer Steve "Skinny" Felton recently launched a salvo of insults at the multiplatinum Iowa band. Felton is, of course, getting the press because he's making the rounds to promote the band's new album, Savior Sorrow. Trotting out the old rivalry seems like a fairly obvious ploy to get some attention — and if it is, it's working. MTV News has tuned in to the latest round, in which Felton called Slipknot "the NSync of heavy metal." Ouch. And you thought you were disappointed with the latest Slipknot album. We say, let 'em settle it in a 16-man cage match. -- D.X. Ferris
