GNR's Democracy: Tune in Next Year!

It's (almost) official: Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy won't arrive this year. Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose has apparently announced that, despite previous assurances, the band's long-awaited Chinese Democracy LP will not arrive in stores the year. A widely circulated open letter allegedly from Rose to GNR's fan apologizes, explains the delay, announces a tentative March 6 release, and blames some of the fiasco on his manager, whom he also announces has been fired. The remarkable, long-winded ass-covering is available at Guns fans site Here Today Gone to Hell, but not on Guns' official website, www.gnronline.com. MTV News tried to confirm the letter's authencity with the band's label, which did not respond. If this development (or lack thereof) throws a monkey wrench in your holiday gift-giving plans, GNRonline has T-shirts from the band's recent tour, but you're cutting it pretty close. We recommend downloading a bootleg copy of "Better," the best of the leaked demos from the album. About 10 other cuts are available, but they'll just disappoint. -- D.X. Ferris
