It's spring, dammit, snow and freezing temperatures notwithstanding! To reinforce that notion, mark your calendars for April 14 and the opening of the weekly North Union Farmer's Market
on Shaker Square.
From 8 a.m. to noon, join farmers, friends, and other earthy types for the annual blessing, the sheep shearing, and a sampling of breakfast tidbits from Dewey's Coffee House. As for rain-or-shine shopping opportunities, expect to find such fresh, locally grown and raised goodies as spring veggies, flowers, maple syrup, eggs, meat, breads, pies, cheeses, jellies, mushrooms, and more.
One week later, on April 21, the market's Crocker Park location opens for the season, near Trader Joe's. Hours there are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. And watch for markets in Parma, Lakewood, and Eton-Chagrin to open later in the season. -- Elaine T. Cicora
