Pissed Off Reader: Jared Klaus is Biased, and His Illegal Immigration Story Totally Sucked

I thought it was a terrible display of journalism on your part to write an article saying that illegal immigration may be the best thing for Painesville [“The Superior Americans,” July 18]. Are you a professional? Did you major in journalism? Did you even go to college? I am dumbfounded that your article was even printed, let alone published by Scene. You treated the ordinary citizens of Painesville as if they were the KKK. What part of “illegal” don't you understand, Mr. Klaus? You quoted a man who said that he has no problem with the illegal Mexicans. He goes on to say: “They clean up their property. They clean up their house. They make it look decent." That is one man's opinion. Obviously you didn't do your reporting, because the majority of residents are fed up with the illegal Mexicans living like pigs, parking on lawns, drinking with open containers, etc. You talk about it not being "uncommon to see single-family homes crammed like motels -- one family per bedroom" like it is a good thing. And why does Chief Gary Smith have to explain the laws to them? If they were legal citizens of the United States, they would know the laws of the land. As for Judge Cicconetti seeing dozens for driving without licenses and letting them off with a small fine, he should be removed from the bench. He goes on to say that they tend to stay away from the hard drugs, "save for a bit of ganja here and there." So it is okay for them to drive without a license and smoke dope? Are these the judge’s words or yours, Mr. Klaus? If you or I would drive without a license because we are going to work, or smoke "ganja here and there," because it is not a "hard drug," would that be okay? Wouldn't we get arrested? How pathetic. It is like the U.S. citizens have their laws, which don’t apply to the illegals. Chief Smith says: "We don't care what your status is." Isn't that his job to enforce the laws of the land? How sad. If I ever do break a law, I will use the "illegal-alien defense." It seems to work with them. As for the Zampinis, they are the biggest hypocrites out there. They hire illegals and say that Americans won't work for $9.88 an hour. What he doesn't tell you, Mr. Klaus, is that he employs illegals under the table and pays them less than minimum wage. Then he claims that no Americans want to work for him. That is because he doesn't want to pay an American a decent wage and give them health-care benefits. So how do the illegals get benefits? Easy. They apply to the Lake County Department of Job and Family Services and their families get free medical, dental, vision, WIC, food stamps, etc., because they have no income being reported so they are considered indigent. Do you think that is okay, Mr. Klaus? How come as a journalist, you couldn't investigate this and find out this for yourself? As for the school system being "35 percent Hispanic," this is putting an extra burden on taxpayers. The school system has to pay for more tutors and spend extra time to help them catch up. So it is okay for the kids to miss two months of school, Mr. Klaus? Why did you put the sob story of Amy Jimenez in your article? Isn't it a sob story for the Painesville and U.S. citizens in general to be paying for these illegals from their government resources? Why do you refer to the "town drunk" and Claudia, who, as you state, "is a taskmaster with boy-cut hair and a necklace of red, white, and blue stars." You act like that is a bad thing to wear your country’s colors proud. So it is okay for the Mexicans to proudly wave and display their flag in our country? Why do refer to Claudia with a "boy-cut hair?" If you did not know, Mr. Klaus, it is called a “bob.” Not only are you uninformed, but you are also uneducated on simple things such as a women's haircut. Congratulations Mr. Klaus, you made the citizens of Painesville look like the KKK and trash of America. You made these illegal aliens look like they were U.S. citizens doing a service for this country. What you have failed to address is how illegal immigration and the underground economy it creates dampens inflation rates, boosts real-estate inflation and reduces the wages of the average American. The illegals are ruining Painesville, and it is too bad that you had an agenda, when you could have reported a fair and balanced story. I am actually surprised that you are employed as a journalist with Scene. You have no integrity, and you displayed your class by stating your opinions in the article, instead of writing about the facts. Hopefully your editor will show you the door, and you can write for Mexico, since you seem to think they are the superior ones. Lee Tranner Painesville
