Immigration Debate Meets Varejao Debacle. What Took So Long, Lou?

Poet Laureate 'vlfljr' thinks Varejao should 'live on the trash heap like the other Brazilians.'
UPDATED BELOW The PD has confirmed what ESPN confirmed earlier, which was confirmed by the Charlotte Observer after being reported by a Brazilian pub called UOL Esporte: Anderson Varejao might be leaving the Cavs, but probably isn't, unless he does. Anyway, it's sort of sad, because when I stalked this guy at his favorite Brazilian steakhouse during his rookie season, he was the toast of the town. Now he's the Brazilian Carlos Boozer. The comments on the PD's blog item about the offer sheet Varejao signed with the Bobcats are quite venomous, and left me with the impression that somewhere, a middle-aged man is burning his Andy wig and using duct tape to turn his Varejao jersey into a Dwayne Jones jersey. But none of the comments is as angry as that of "vlfljr," who, I'd venture to guess, never liked Varejao much in the first place. He writes, quite poetically:
First he is a overseas player, who is taking food out of the mouth of an American. He can barely speak English. He limited in education and he want's 10 million a year. He can live on the trash heap like the other Brazilians. I am sick and tired of foreigners who feel that America own them something. They are owed nothing. If you feel your country is better, then stay there! We do not need you. This goes for all foreigners, who what to talk about American or hold them ransom. Varejao was doing great until he open his mouth. He is like all of the other players that did not want to play here after Lebron arrive: jealous and limited in skills. For some reason they are thinking like the present sorry generation: I am just as good as he is, without proving it! If I was Lebron I would pop Varejao upside his head and state, Brazlian trash boy you are lucky to be in America, enough of the political correctness. You are in America and just be happy you are here. Your vote do not count and your comments do not count ie....foreign athletes, stars and pertaining. Amen and Halleuah (sp). God Bless America.
Who knew Lou Dobbs was such a big Cavs fan? -- Joe P. Tone UPDATE: The Cavs just announced they've matched the Bobcats' offer and will retain Varejao. To make room, they moved Demetris Nichols, who I believe was Dan Gilbert's pilot.
