Mired University: The President is Arrested as the Myers Saga Continues

Myers President Richard Scaldini should be fired by a court-appointed receiver today.
Earlier this year, when we detailed Myers University's fall from grace, the school's president, Richard Scaldini, sounded confident he could save the school. Months later, he's been arrested and is about to get fired. A judge has appointed a receiver named Mark Dottore to take over the school while the court tries to broker its sale to the for-profit University of Northern Virginia. The judge will meet with both sides this afternoon. Dottore is expected to fire Scaldini this morning. If you've got a stake in Myers -- in some ways we all do, right? -- and want more on Dottore, check out Scene's 2005 profile, "King Nothing." Lots of accusations fly around, but it's an interesting look at how receivership works. -- Joe P. Tone
